- We said in an earlier post that we’ve had a better track record since we’ve learned to analyze our songs. This is true, but it really isn’t the only reason for a better track record.
It was coincidental with our discovery of another more important principle that we want to share with you now. We’re convinced this is what turned our ministry around. It was our discovery that God indeed had a plan for us to fit into, that He was building something that we were called to be a part of.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10).
The Amplified version says:
. . . that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us, (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time) that we should walk in them—living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live.
Not just any good works, but “those good works . . . ;” not just any paths, but “paths which He prepared . . . ;” not just any good life but “the good life which He pre-arranged . . . for us to live.”
Would we be stretching this if we interpreted it to mean, “not just any songs, but . . .”? After all, songs are good works, aren’t they?
Philippians 2:13 adds to the picture:
For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
Sadly, many of us are so busy saying and doing our own things that we don’t accomplish those things He has ordained. And God has not obligated Himself to bless anything He has not ordained.
God has a higher plan for our lives than we can possibly visualize. He didn’t give us our creative gift just to play with. If we could catch a glimpse of what He really wants to do with it, we might never be the same again.
The next step may surprise you. You may need deliverance. No, not from demons—but from the power of your own music over you.
More about this next time.
